You're not the only one flying blind

What Shopify merchants are actually saying about inventory management.

"I'm basically living in spreadsheets and manually updating inventory counts, which worked fine when we were smaller but now it's like a full time job."

r/ecommerce67 upvotes

"Trying to track sales speed vs. current stock feels like guesswork sometimes, especially with supplier lead times."

r/shopify

"We've essentially stocked out 3 times in the past 8 months, naturally foregoing a good chunk of revenue. Even in the cases where I planned appropriately, we've been surprised."

r/shopify20 upvotes

"Our top-selling product sold out but ads kept spending for 2 days. I almost spent $500 on ads for a stock-out product."

r/shopify6 upvotes

"I should be excited about the growth but instead I just feel stressed all the time."

r/ecommerce184 upvotes

"Shopify's stock alerts are just basic thresholds — doesn't account for how fast stuff actually sells."

Install from the Shopify App Store

One click install. Alertr connects to your store and immediately starts pulling product data and order history. No CSV uploads, no manual setup.

Set your lead times and alert preferences

Tell Alertr how long your supplier takes. Set your lookback window for sell rate calculations. Choose email, Slack, or both. Done in under 5 minutes.

Get alerts before you run out

Alertr syncs daily, calculates days of stock remaining per SKU, and fires an alert when a product is projected to stock out inside your lead time window — with exactly how many units to reorder.

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

Alertr does one thing well — keeps you from running out of stock by knowing your sell rates. No fluff.

Daily inventory sync

Automatically pulls your product data and recent orders from Shopify every day. Calculates sell rates per SKU across your chosen lookback window — so you always know what's moving, and how fast.

Smart reorder alerts

Get notified by email or Slack when a SKU is projected to run out within your lead time window. Alertr tells you how many units to order based on your current sell rate — not a static threshold someone guessed years ago.

Inventory dashboard

All your SKUs in a single view: days of stock remaining, sell rate per day, reorder quantities. Filter by status — low, critical, out. No spreadsheet required.

CSV export

Download your full inventory report — filtered and sorted exactly as you see it — for purchase orders or reporting.

Configurable thresholds

Set your own lookback window, supplier lead time, and alert frequency. Every store is different — configure it to match yours.

Slack integration

Reorder alerts delivered directly to your team's Slack channel. Respond to a stockout risk without leaving your tools.

Common questions

Shopify admin shows you what you have right now. It doesn't tell you what's about to run out, how fast it's selling, or when to reorder. You'd have to check every product, every day, and do the maths yourself. Alertr does that automatically — it calculates days of stock left for every SKU based on actual sell rate, and only alerts you when something needs your attention.
Spreadsheets work until they don't — usually around 100+ SKUs or when you add a second supplier. The problem isn't the spreadsheet itself, it's that it only updates when you update it. If you miss a week, or a product starts selling faster than expected, you don't find out until you're already out. Alertr syncs daily and does the calculation automatically, so nothing slips through.
Flow triggers when inventory hits a static number — "alert me at 10 units." But 10 units of a product selling 50/day is a 5-hour emergency. 10 units of something selling 1/week is fine for two months. Flow doesn't know the difference. Alertr calculates days of stock left based on your actual sell rate and factors in supplier lead times, so you get the alert at the right moment.
Install from the Shopify App Store, set your supplier lead times and alert preferences, and you're done. Alertr pulls your product and order data from Shopify automatically — no CSV uploads, no manual data entry, no onboarding call. First sync runs immediately.
If you're on the Pro plan trial, you'll be charged $19/mo (beta pricing, locked in for life) through your Shopify bill. If you decide it's not for you, cancel before the trial ends and you won't be charged. You can also downgrade to the free plan anytime — you keep the dashboard for up to 50 SKUs, you just lose alerts and CSV export.
